MISSION

We will not stop until families around the world can recall more stroke symptoms than they can recall types of dinosaurs.

HISTORY

Following a successful pilot in Greece in 2019, the FAST Heroes programme was expanded in 2021 and has continued to grow since. It is now implemented in thousands of schools worldwide. The Grandheroes Foundation has been established to support the FAST Heroes educational programme. It is our objective that The Grandheroes Foundation should become a self-sustaining entity to support our ambition.

IMPACT

Hundreds of thousands of families have become FAST Heroes. Through them, several life-saving stories have resulted from the campaign. LIFE SAVING STORIES

Ninka – Slovakia

Ninka’s knowledge from the FAST Heroes campaign helped her grandmother recognise her grandfather’s stroke symptoms in time, enabling a quick response that ultimately saved his life. Ninka learnt about stroke symptoms through the FAST Heroes campaign and shared this information with her grandmother. Not long after, her grandfather began showing signs of a stroke. Thanks to her grandmother’s memory of the warning signs that Ninka had told her about and from the poster that Ninka gave her, they recognised the symptoms in time and acted quickly. The rapid response ensured that her grandfather received the medical care he needed, and his life was saved.

Cesar – Spain

Cesar’s quick recognition of stroke symptoms, allowed his grandmother to receive emergency care in time, preventing more severe consequences from the stroke. Cesar had learnt the stroke symptoms two years earlier through the FAST Heroes campaign. One day, his grandmother began slurring her speech, and her face started to droop - classic stroke indicators. Remembering what he had learned in school, Cesar immediately alerted his family, ensuring his grandmother received emergency care without delay. His timely recognition and quick action were crucial in preventing more severe consequences from the stroke.

Olga – Ukraine

Olga’s swift recognition of stroke symptoms, allowed her grandmother to receive immediate medical care and make a full recovery within six days. Olga noticed her grandmother acting strangely one morning, showing signs that Olga recognised as potential stroke symptoms, having learned about them at school via the FAST Heroes campaign. Without hesitation, Olga alerted her parents, who quickly sought medical help. Thanks to Olga’s prompt action, her grandmother was treated swiftly, and successfully recovered within six days. Olga’s grandmother is incredibly grateful for her quick action.
